Dear Class of 2025 members and incoming transfer students,
We are writing to provide you and your family with information and instructions for your arrival on the Skidmore College campus. Whether you are scheduled to arrive on Thursday, September 2 or Sunday, September 5, please follow the instructions below for moving into your residence hall.
To provide context and prepare you, please be aware that more than 500 cars will be on campus for each move-in day, and we will want to be sure that all families have time to unload belongings and get settled. We ask everyone to please remember to be patient with each other and with staff members. Things may take a little longer than we’d like, things may be a little different, but we are still Skidmore College, and we are excited to meet you.

Health and Safety
Masks must be worn correctly at all times, including outdoors, by everyone.
Please maintain social distancing and be respectful of the physical proximity of others, particularly when moving, standing in line, etc.
Wash hands or use hand sanitizer frequently.
Prior to Arrival
If you are in a group that requires pre-arrival testing, you need to submit that prior to arriving on campus (with exemption or extension to vaccine requirement, going on SCOOP).
Make sure you download the CoVerified app. Health Services will notify students in a separate communication about when CoVerified is activated for our campus and how to use it. You do not need to monitor for symptoms; the app is used to communicate test results.
All students should be tested within 24 hours of their arrival to campus. Testing is in Falstaff’s. Hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on both arrival days, and you can find the information here.
To speed up testing, it would be very helpful to bring a signed copy of the consent form. If you forget your form, blank forms will be available at the Information Walkway upon arrival. Individuals under 18 need parent/guardian consent for testing.
Your second round of testing should be 5-7 days after first round.
Students are responsible for monitoring their email and making sure that they understand the college’s requirements around COVID mitigation, including testing schedules, masking, and other protective measures. Individually and collectively, we work to protect each other.
Arrival at Skidmore
Plan to arrive at Skidmore through the main entrance on Broadway (815 N. Broadway for mapping purposes) between 8:30 a.m. and noon. Follow signs to the Zankel Music Center lot where you will check in and pick up your ID and other materials. You will not need to leave your car during this stop. Please note: You must have a government-issued ID (passport, driver’s license, etc.) to pick up your Skidmore ID. Please have this readily accessible when you arrive on campus.
For students participating in Campus Work-study, you will go to the I-9 station (also in Zankel lot) to hand in your I-9 and present your original (no photocopies) identity documentation. Here is the list of acceptable documentation: You will need one item from List A OR one item each from List B and List C. We ask that just the student leave the car for this stop.
Once at the residence hall, be sure to unload belongings at a designated drop-off zone. There will be student volunteers to help you. Please remember that students and guests will need to wear masks at all times.
Bring belongings to room and get settled. Please know that each student must designate two family members to help them with their move-in. The student and their designees are the only ones permitted inside the residence hall at any given time. All other family members must remain outside of the residence hall.
Families and any student bringing a car to campus for the semester should immediately move their car to the center of West Lot or Palamountain Lot after they have unloaded their cars. Parking at unloading zones is short-term and very limited; other arriving students will need these spaces. Please note that there is no long-term or overnight parking in Jonsson Lot or Case Lot. However, overnight parking prohibitions are suspended for Palamountain Lot during arrival week.
Programming
Students will receive a New Student Orientation Schedule when they arrive on campus.
Parents, guardians, and friends are invited to a complimentary barbeque lunch hosted by Dining Services. We will have tables and chairs, but feel free to bring a picnic blanket (your student may want to have a picnic blanket to enjoy the fall on Case Green, Haupt Pond, etc.).
Pre-Orientation students arriving on September 2, will join their programs: 12:30 p.m. for SCOOP (off campus) and 1 p.m. for on-campus programs.
Students arriving on September 5 will join their floor for their first Orientation activity at 1:30 p.m.
New Student Convocation will be held on September 5 at 4:15 p.m. Parents may watch under South Park Tent or online.
